Leading Authorities Speakers Bureau | Kathleen Madigan
American Comedy Award-Winning Comedian

"I think there’s aliens. I just think they’re smarter than us and that’s why we don’t know they’re here. Like, fish don’t know we’re up here, but we’re certainly snagging them whenever we feel like it.”

Kathleen Madigan is one of the most popular headliners in the country. Jay Leno (The Tonight Show) calls her one of America’s funniest comics, and Garry Shandling (The Larry Sanders Show) enlisted her to contribute to the writing team of the 2004 Emmy Awards. An American Comedy Award winner, her accessible and unpretentious style has earned her a devoted and growing following.

Playing the circuit. Madigan packs theaters from Nevada to North Carolina, and everywhere in between. Her ability to talk about serious topics and draw occasionally insane conclusions is the reason she sells out comedy clubs from coast to coast. The former journalist and Southern Illinois University graduate’s superb timing and polished act has made her a favorite among club goers and late night audiences. She has starred in her own popular HBO Half-Hour Comedy Special and also made numerous appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and The Late Show with David Letterman, VH-1, E!, and CNN.

Her standup specials on HBO and Comedy Central have earned rave reviews and her latest CD/DVD, In Other Words, is one of the most downloaded comedy albums ever. She is a mainstay on Comedy Central where she recently debuted a new one-hour special and appeared on The World Stands Up, USO Comedy Tour, The World Comedy Tour, and Comedy Central Presents. In her spare time, she serves as a contributing writer for US Weekly’s Fashion Police.

A tower of power. Madigan initially turned to comedy once she’d realized that she had stopped growing (she’s a towering 5’2”) and her basketball career was going, well, nowhere. It proved an ideal paradigm shift. Much success and several jokes later, she stands tall among her peers.
