Susie Gharib is one of the nation’s leading business journalists. As the award-winning Co-Anchor of Nightly Business Report, Susie broadcasts weeknights from the New York Stock Exchange on news about the economy and the financial markets. She is best known for her incisive interviews of powerful business leaders and newsmakers in Corporate America, Wall Street and Washington. Her interviewees have included Microsoft’s Bill Gates, Jack Welch of General Electric, former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin, and Citigroup’s Sandy Weill as well as two sitting U.S. presidents at the White House – President Clinton in 1999 and President George Bush in 2003.

Gharib’s excellent journalistic work has been recognized by her peers. She is the recipient of the AWRT’s Gracie Allen award as the top anchorwoman of a national news program (2001). She was honored with a “Front Page Award” from the Newswoman’s Club of New York in 2002 for a timely panel discussion with several high profile CEOs on how to restore investor confidence in the aftermath of business scandals of Enron and Worldcom. She has been named one of the nation’s 100 most influential business journalists by TJFR (The Journalist Financial Review).

Gharib joined Nightly Business Report in 1998 after a distinguished 20 year career working at some of America’s most prestigious print and broadcast organizations. At CNBC she anchored several live morning newscasts as well as business news briefs for NBC-TV’s network programs. She also worked as a business reporter for WABC-TV in New York, an anchor at Financial News Network and business reporter/anchor at ESPN’s Business Times. Gharib launched her career as a business journalist at Fortune magazine, where she was a associate editor and senior writer. Her previous print work includes reporter positions at Newsweek magazine; the Associated Press, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Susie Gharib is a magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Case Western Reserve University. She earned a Mater's degree in international affairs at Columbia University.

She is trustee of the Economic Club of New York and a member of the Foreign Policy Association and the New York Financial Writers Association. Gharib has served on the Board of Overseers of Case Western Reserve University and has been director of First Fortis, Inc., a major insurance company, and the Ice Theatre of New York, an ice skating repertory group.

Susie Gharib, a native New Yorker, grew up in Cleveland. She is an avid figure skater and also enjoys tennis and classical piano.
